Realistic PBR lamps based on the Ikea desk lamp "FORSÅ", to simulate product visualization. With a work desk and objects to see it in an environment. I choose this lamp to show of my ability to do small details and bigger forms, both in on asset. With a clean aesthetic.
Programs and services used
I have this model of lamp at my own desk, as I used as a reference, and some pictures from the internet.
First I did a highpoly version without anyform of baking. Relying on a high amount of polygons. Almost 20000 tris is a bit much for a lamp, and I started to make a second version.
19502 tris 2048x2048 PBR textures
With the second version i thought more on optimizing. Reusing meshes as much that i could to save UV space.
I did one Highpoly and one Lowpoly from the first version. Baked down the Highpoly to a Normal map. Exported the Lowpoly with normals to “Substance Painter 2” to make textures. With the textures done, I assemble the lowpoly and reused meshes and textures. Posed the lamps in three different versions, and exported them to Unreal E4 and “Sketchfab”.
13854 tris (almost 50% is the springs 4x1668) / 1024x1024 PBR textures
